University of Michigan Collaborators Conduct Joint Experiments at UF

UM and UF Group
Joint UM and UF Experimental Campaign Participants (Dr. Milos Burger, Prof. Igor Jovanovic, Prof. Kyle C. Hartig, Kyle Latty, and Emily Kwapis)

The Optical Science and Nonproliferation Group at UF hosted University of Michigan DTRA IIRM Collaborators Prof. Igor Jovanovic and Dr. Milos Burger for a full week of collaborative experiments in support of the DTRA IIRM University Research Alliance. The UM group brought a unique experimental chamber, Echelle spectrometer, and xenon gas tank that was integrated into the UF experimental setup and several unique and novel measurements were taken over the five days of the collaborative experimental campaign. The visit was extremely successful and the two groups envision multiple journal papers and conference abstracts being submitted over the next several months.

Custom experimental chamber is illuminated from xenon fluorescence induced by laser filament interaction in the xenon gas inside the chamber.
Kyle Latty and Dr. Milos Burger work together to align a laser filament imaging setup.
